Power Rankings: Fall T.V. Week One, Top 10
Week one is in the books and I wasted a lot of time watching television.
Sure I could have been studying for anyone of my classes I need to pass to be able to transfer to a four year college, but being a true American being a fat, lazy person watching all of these shows sounded so much better.
With that being said here are the week one rankings:
1. The Office (NBC) (Last weeks rank No. 1)
Considering I was preparing to give the episode an “F” it was a great show.
The open literally made me laugh. Only the office could make a trend that faded out a few months ago hilarious.
James Spader is going to be an interesting character, you don’t get a good grasp of what his role is so it is hard to figure out how he will add to the office.
Making Andy the manager was a great move, he is so much like Michael there will be a lot of the same awkwardness and internal conflicts we came to love.
Episode Grade: B
Trending: Steady -> (Only because you can’t get higher than first place)
2. Modern Family (ABC) (No. 4)
A family vacation is never a bad idea especially on Modern Family.
Episode grade: A
Trending: Up ^ (It will be tough to wrestle the No. 1 spot from the office, but it is the show to do it)
3. Community (NBC) (No. 3)
The intro was a bit bizarre, but foreshadowed future events.
The only problem was the episode wasn’t particulary funny, it just set up a bunch of future shows. Which is nice, but when watching a comedy I want to laugh.
Episode grade: B-
Trending: Down v
4. Parks & Recreation (NBC) (No. 2)
Leslie Knope is running for some government office, Ron finally had to deal with Tammy 1 when she told him he was being audited.
Nothing really to write home about.
Episode grade: C
Trending: Down v
5. Up All Night (NBC) (No. 11)
Ranking it so low last week was a mistake. A major mistake.
While I was against Will Arnet going on The Office, after watching the first two shows, I am a huge fan.
Episode Grade: A
Trending: Up ^
6. The Amazing Race (CBS) (No. 7)
Haven’t decided who I am going with yet.
The father son adventures are a good bet, and the twins are fun to look at, but I think I will have to go with the Survivor winners.
Episode grade: B+
Trending: Up ^
7. New Girl (FOX) (No. 9)
Upon further review I amend my previous grade of a “C-” to a “B.”
Again Zooey Deschanel is pretty awesome.
Episode Grade: B
Trending: Up ^
8. The Playboy Club (NBC) (No. 10)
I was surprised, the plot and story was actuality really good.
Episode grade: B
Trending: Up ^
9. NCIS (CBS) (No. 5)
Love the series, but the only reason I watched the entire episode was because there was nothing better on the DVR. Hopefully it is just a down week and they get back into it next week.
Episode grade: B-
Trending: Down v
10. NCIS: LA (CBS) (No. 6)
Same as No. 9 NCIS. Once they start to delve into the deeper plot lines from the previous season it will rebound.
Episode grade: B-
Trending: Down v
On the bubble:
11. Dancing with the Stars (ABC) (No. 8)
For me the idea of having celebrates dance with pros is tired. The only reason I stick around is for the people they get. I don’t know half of the “celebrates” on this season. Hopefully Hope Solo will stick around for awhile.
Episode grade: D (The first few episodes are painful, too much bad dancing)
Trending: Down v
12. The X Factor (No. 12)
It wasn’t that great…
But Simon is fantastic.
Trending: Steady ->
Missed the cut: Survivor (CBS), Hawaii Five-O (CBS), Charlies Angels (ABC), Terra Nova (FOX), Free Agents (NBC)
