NFL predictions (that will be wrong)

I was bored.

And like any normal person that is bored I went through every NFL game this season and predicted a winner.

You all do that right?

Ah, you don’t… Well I won’t pretend I don’t have issues. Though, my problems pale in comparison to people who are less fortunate.

Before I go on I have to say it is a lot harder then you would think. Picking each game is hard and tiring, being somebody that has no inside/ in depth knowledge of any team all I can do is take each team for face value.

I went team by team in alphabetical order, and at the end I got mixed results. Essentially these standings show what team I like and don’t like, the records are pretty inaccurate (after all the Washington Redskins aren’t going to go 0-16, but there isn’t another team I hate less then them. More on this later).

I will give the standings for each division and talk about my reasoning after each division. (Playoff team has * and seed number)

AFC East:

New York Jets 13-3*(2)

New England Patriots 12-4*(5)

Miami Dolphins 4-12

Buffalo Bills 4-12

I don’t really have any issue with this division. The only thing that really sticks out is Miami, I am really not a Miami fan, Reggie Bush to me is more of a gimmick then an every down back and I am not sold on Chad Henne.

AFC North

Baltimore Ravens 14-2* (1)

Pittsburgh Steelers 13-3*(3)

Cleveland Browns 7-9

Cincinnati Bengals 3-13

When looking at the “elite” teams it is hard to find losses because they are so good. This goes throughout the entire standings, but I found myself going back trying to find more losses for the good teams because there really isn’t that big of a gap in the divisions. I like the Browns, but they don’t have enough good pieces to really compete with the Steelers and Ravens, but I wouldn’t be surprised if they were a .500 or better team.

AFC South

Houston Texans 10-6*(6)

Indianapolis Colts 10-6

Jacksonville Jaguars 3-13

Tennessee Titans 2-14

This was one of the harder divisions. I have a hard time thinking the the Titans will be that bad with Chris Johnson on their team, but they really have nobody else. The Colts were the hardest team, simply because of Peyton Manning if he is 100% by week one they will win the division, but if he misses any time the Colts are an average team.

AFC West

San Diego Chargers 12-4*(4)

Kansas City Chiefs 6-10

Denver Broncos 5-10

Oakland Raiders 3-13

Being a Charger fan it was hard, they are the lock to win the division it was just a matter of finding the losses. I could see them winning 14 and I could see them winning 10. I don’t think the Raiders are that bad, but there are a lot more teams I like.

NFC East

Philadelphia Eagles 14-2*(1)

Dallas Cowboys 10-6

New York Giants 9-7

Washington Redskins 0-16

This was one division I think I got the closes, with the Redskins being the exception. I really hate the Redskins, after all any team that has to decide between John Beck and Rex Grossman as their starting quarterback is not in a good situation. I went through the standing in alphabetical order so by the time I got to the Redskins schedule I had already picked their games looking at the matchup from the other teams viewpoint. By that time I had no desire to go back and make changes and like I said I really hate the Redskins, nothing excites me about them. Are the Redskins going to go 0-16, no. But they will be bad, real bad.

NFC North

Green Bay Packers 14-2*(2)

Detroit Lions 12-4*(4)

Chicago Bears 9-7

Minnesota Vikings 3-13

The other division I think I got close. I really like the Lions and am one of the people that think they will make the playoffs. The Vikings were the hard team, they have AP, so it really depends on what Donovan McNabb shows up.

NFC South

Atlanta Falcons 13-3*(3)

New Orleans Saints 12-4*(5)

Tampa Bay Buccaneers 10-6

Carolina Panthers 3-13

Going though the teams, I feel like the Buccaneers were on the end of a coin flip game that I liked the other just a little better. And in this division it was going to be hard to get a playoff spot.

NFC West

St. Louis Rams 10-6*(6)

Arizona Cardinals 8-8

Seattle Seahawks 3-13

San Francisco 49ers 2-14

I really like the Rams, and much like the Redskins, they were late in the order so I could see 11 or 12 wins. I like Arizona more then most people, if Kevin Kolb is half of what he showed in Philly the Cardinals will be in business. All he has to do is get the ball in the same zip code of Larry Fitzgerald, something the three QB’s failed to do last year.
